EcoGraf (ASX:EGR) signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Geological Survey of Finland and materials technology firm Betolar to study the use of mineral tailings in producing low‑carbon building products, according to a Friday filing with the Australian bourse.

The parties intend to conduct technical, commercial, and environmental studies to assess the feasibility of converting tailings into value‑added building products, the filing said.

The company expects to generate an average of 900,000 tonnes per year of tailings in the first 10 years of the first-stage production at the Epanko project in Tanzania, per the filing.

EcoGraf shares fell 8% in afternoon trade on Friday.
