ChainCatcher 消息，美国司法部官方发布典型判例，Praetorian Group International 首席执行官因 2 亿美元比特币庞氏骗局被判处 20 年监禁，因运营庞氏骗局诈骗全球超过 9 万名投资者而被判犯有电汇欺诈和洗钱罪。
现年 61 岁的拉米尔·文图拉·帕拉福克斯（Ramil Ventura Palafox）拥有美国和菲律宾双重国籍，运营 Praetorian Group International（PGI）并担任董事长和 CEO。帕拉福克斯谎称 PGI 从事比特币交易，并承诺每日收益为 0.5% 至 3%。然而 PGI 的比特币交易规模根本不足以达到承诺的收益，实际为庞氏骗局。
2019 年 12 月到 2021 年 10 月，全球至少有 9 万名投资者向 PGI 投资超 2.01 亿美元，其中包括至少 3029.5289 万美元的法定货币和至少 8198 枚价值 1.71498528 亿美元的比特币。由于 Palafox 的行为，投资者遭受了总计至少 6269.2007 万美元损失。
