EBay Carries Collectibles Strategy Over to Fashion -- Market Talk

EBay hopes to replicate its success with collectibles with its acquisition of Depop, Chief Executive Jamie Iannone tells analysts. The company plans to keep Depop as a standalone brand, but cross-list its products on eBay's website as well. Years ago, eBay bought several collectibles-focused platforms including TCGplayer and Goldin Auctions. It integrated those companies' listings into eBay, and now collectibles are its biggest driver of gross merchandise volume, Iannone says. "I'm similarly excited for that opportunity with what Depop has done with fashion," Iannone says. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
