'Several' Fed Officials Lean Against Perception of Further Cuts -- Market Talk

1414 ET - When the Fed met in January, "several" officials in the meeting wanted the Fed's communications after the meeting to signal more neutral ambiguity about whether the central bank's next rate move would be another cut or a hike. That is a hawkish tidbit, because traders have broadly priced in the probability of further cuts ahead, with little thought to potential hikes. Not all officials were on board with that view--"several" said they believe more cuts will be appropriate if inflation continues to cool. (matt.grossman@wsj.com; @mattgrossman)
