Westpac Banking (ASX:WBC, NZE:WBC) said that Mastercard completed New Zealand's first fully-authenticated agentic transaction on its network using a Westpac-issued debit card to purchase cinema tickets from Event Cinemas, according to a Tuesday statement.
Another transaction on Mastercard's Agent Pay framework booked accommodation with QT Hotels & Resorts in Queenstown.
Artificial intelligence-powered agents search for, discover, and, in some instances, make purchases on behalf of consumers in agentic transactions.
