0822 GMT - European indexes are largely up on calm trading without big stock swings at the open. London's FTSE 100 gains 0.4% after closing at another record high Monday. InterContinental Hotels Group is up 3% after growing revenue, while miners in the index fall. The German DAX slips 0.15% as the index's second largest constituent, Siemens, nudges down 0.2% after falling 6.25% Monday. Autos in the index gain. Moves are muted for stocks in Spain's IBEX 35, with the index up 0.2%. Markets are similarly quiet in Milan, with shipbuilder Fincantieri--down 1.8%--the FTSE MIB's biggest mover as the index gains 0.1%. The CAC 40 rises 0.1% in Paris, despite industrials dragging on the index with defense group Thales down 2.3%. Software company Capgemini climbs 1.5% amid broader gains for software stocks.
