Arizona Sonoran Copper will no longer pursue a joint venture with Rio Tinto-backed Nuton on its Cactus Project and instead plans to advance it on its own.

The Toronto-listed copper developer on Tuesday said the two companies mutually agreed to the early termination of the option to joint venture on the Arizona project.

As part of the decision, Arizona Sonoran will pay $15 million immediately, as well as another $5 million within one year of the termination, and potentially up to about $15 million more if a change of control occurs.
