Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ, NZE:AIR) and US-based Beta Technologies completed their four-month Next Generation Aircraft Technical Demonstrator program, giving insights into the performance of electric propulsion aircraft, according to a Tuesday statement from the airline.
During the program, the battery-electric aircraft, ALIA CX300, completed over 100 flights and flew 13,000 kilometers while visiting 12 airports or aerodromes across the North and South Islands.
The airline said it also carried over 20 tonnes of mock cargo during the program. It included crossings between Wellington and Blenheim.
The ALIA CX300 demonstrator will be handed back to Beta Technologies for its next phase.
