2月23日，黄金、白银开盘直线拉涨。截至发稿，国际现货黄金涨幅为0.67%，报5145.519美元/盎司；现货白银突破86美元/盎司，日内涨幅扩大至2%。
消息面上，中东局势持续紧张。卫星图像显示，美国在中东的战斗机数量激增。美国在约旦的穆沃费格萨勒提空军基地部署了超过60架军用飞机，该空军基地可能成为美军策划的潜在对伊朗打击行动的关键枢纽。
据《纽约时报》报道，特朗普倾向于在未来几天对伊朗发动首轮打击。若首轮打击效果不佳，特朗普将考虑对伊朗发动更大规模袭击。
当地时间22日，伊朗外长阿拉格齐在接受采访时表示，外交是解决伊朗核问题的唯一途径。阿拉格齐表示，伊朗正在制定协议的具体内容和草案，并称可能会在周四（26日）于日内瓦与美特使威特科夫会面，达成比2015年伊朗核问题全面协议“更好的协议”是可能的，他同时强调伊朗拥有和平利用核能的权利。
另外，瑞银（UBS）发布最新的《内部观点》报告，将黄金目标价格上调至6200美元/盎司，主要受地缘政治风险及有利宏观环境驱动。
美联储降息方面，据CME“美联储观察”：美联储到3月降息25个基点的概率为4.1%，维持利率不变的概率为95.9%。
