President Trump spoke highly of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who authored the dissent in the tariffs case. He read part of Kavanaugh's dissent out loud during his press conference, noting several other authorities for tariffs that Kavanaugh mentioned.
Trump appointed Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court during his first term. Two other of Trump's appointees - Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett - ruled against the president's tariffs.
