Tariff Ruling Seen as Negative for Auto Parts Retailers -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Yesterday

1312 ET - The Supreme Court's rejection of President Trump's tariffs is likely a negative for auto parts retailers like Advance Auto Parts, O'Reilly Automotive and AutoZone, given same SKU inflation will fade, Mizuho analysts say in a note. Tariffs had allowed the companies to raise prices, including for old inventory they had bought for cheaper. The analysts say, however, that they expect the Trump administration to pivot towards some type of workaround, including country or category-specific tariffs. "This will take some time," they say.
