StanChart Launches $1.5 Billion Share Repurchase Program

Standard Chartered (HKG:2888) said it intends to begin a buyback of its shares worth up to $1.5 billion, according to a Tuesday Hong Kong bourse filing.

The lender will repurchase a maximum of 200 million shares from the London Stock Exchange, Cboe Europe, and/or any other UK recognized investment exchange agreed upon under the program.

The firm will bay back shares to reduce its share capital.
