据三位了解情报报告的消息人士透露，美国总统特朗普关于伊朗很快将拥有可打击美国的导弹这一说法并未得到美国情报报告的支持，有夸大之嫌。这令特朗普为可能对伊朗发动攻击所提出的部分理由受到质疑。在周二向国会发表的国情咨文演讲中，特朗普开始向美国公众阐述美国可能对伊朗发动打击的理由，称德黑兰正在“研制很快就能打到美国本土的导弹”。但两名消息人士指出，美国国防情报局（DIA）2025年一份非机密评估报告的结论并未改变，即伊朗基于现有卫星运载火箭（SLV）发展出“具备军事可行性的洲际弹道导弹（ICBM）”可能需要到2035年才能实现。
