据知情人士透露，美国联邦储备委员会正针对两项传票发起非公开法律抗辩，这些传票是联邦检察官珍妮娜・皮罗对美联储主席杰罗姆・鲍威尔展开刑事调查的一部分。皮罗是特朗普总统的长期盟友，她启动此项调查，旨在核查鲍威尔去年夏天就美联储大楼翻新项目在国会所作证词是否虚假。此举引发鲍威尔发表了史无前例的公开回应，他在 1 月 11 日的视频声明中称，该调查是特朗普持续向美联储施压降息、破坏央行独立性的借口。美联储已通过不公开程序，请求法官撤销相关传票，以减轻或免除其配合调查的义务。目前暂无法得知其具体法律依据。在备受关注的调查中，被传唤方以调查范围过广、或要求获取受法律特权保护的信息为由，对抗检方要求，这种情况并不罕见。 由于大陪审团刑事调查相关保密规定，此次法律对抗并未对外公开。
