亚特兰大联储行长博斯蒂克美联储面临来自总统唐纳德·特朗普及其政府官员前所未有的降息压力。特朗普去年成为首位试图解雇美联储理事的总统，他以未经证实的抵押贷款欺诈指控为由试图罢免丽莎·库克。库克提起的法律挑战正在法院审理中。
美国司法部还就美联储主席杰罗姆·鲍威尔有关办公楼翻修工程的证词向美联储发出传票。鲍威尔表示，该调查是特朗普政府为了试图影响货币政策。
“当这些争端尘埃落定时，我将不再是美联储的一员，”将于本月底从美联储退休的博斯蒂克说。“我将密切关注，希望植根于美国经济多年来巨大成功的智慧能够占上风。”
