消息面上，汇丰环球研究报告指，实证分析显示，香港公用事业板块在重大全球冲突期间始终如一展现其防御性特质。该板块在相关事件发生后，表现一贯地优于大市，在重大事件发生后的60天内，跑赢恒生指数7%。撇除典型的避险情绪，该行认为板块的核心基本面依然稳固，受到监管框架及长期合约的保护，得以抵御宏观不确定性与干扰。此外，随着伊朗关闭霍尔木兹海峡，燃料价格飙升。然而，该行预期对板块盈利的影响微乎其微，因为对于香港、英国及澳洲的受规管公用事业，燃料价格可完全转嫁至用户账单。
