Veon (VEON) said Tuesday it expanded its partnership with MeetKai to explore launching sovereign, locally-deployed artificial intelligence infrastructure and in-country AI capabilities across Veon markets.

Veon said it signed a memorandum of understanding in Barcelona to formalize the partnership expansion.

The partnership will accelerate the standardized deployment of secure compute environments that meet data residency requirements and local governance processes. This will support the development of AI-based services that meet market-specific needs, according to the company.

Veon and MeetKai plan to launch the partnership across Veon's operating markets, while also exploring further expansion, the company said.
