Shipments of foreign-branded phones in China fell in Jan on-year, CAICT data says

BEIJING, March 4 (Reuters) - Shipments of foreign-branded mobile phones in China for January, including Apple's AAPL.O iPhones, fell 36.5% from the same month a year ago, according to Reuters calculations on data released by a government-affiliated research firm on Wednesday.

The data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology showed shipments of foreign-branded phones within China were at 2.79 million units in January.

Overall phone shipments in China were down 16.1% year-on-year to 22.87 million units in January, according to the data.
