泰国自3月1日起实施严格的零售黄金交易新规，旨在抑制投机行为。此类投机活动推高泰铢汇率，削弱了该国竞争力。据泰国央行官网公告，个人以泰铢计价的线上黄金交易，将实行每人、每平台每日5000万泰铢（约160万美元）的限额。以美元计价的交易、实体金店买卖以及期货市场不受此限。此外，央行要求所有交易必须全额预付电子支付，同时禁止代持账户与做空交易，称此举将提升市场透明度与规范水平。此举凸显出央行日益担忧：大额泰铢计价黄金交易放大了本币升值幅度。过去一年泰铢升值约9%，在媒体跟踪的亚洲货币中表现第二强。官方表示，这轮涨势部分与黄金相关的美元抛售有关，已对出口和旅游业造成压力，加剧经济下行阻力。
