白宫与伊朗官员均未回应置评请求。CIA拒绝发表评论。
以色列希望这场行动持续数周，以最大限度摧毁伊朗军事能力，甚至促使伊朗政府倒台，以方已敦促美国无视这一接触。目前，华盛顿方面并不认为该提议具有诚意。
在连续数日表示愿与伊朗谈判后，特朗普于周二上午在社交媒体发文称，现在谈判“为时已晚”。
当天晚些时候，特朗普在接受记者采访时遗憾表示，美国认识且曾视为潜在接班人选的伊朗官员正接连被杀。
“我们原本属意的大多数人都死了，”特朗普说，“很快我们就谁都不认识了。”
