Nintendo's Pokémon Game Announcements Reflects Switch 2 Push -- Market Talk

0524 GMT - The 2027 timeline for Nintendo Switch 2 games "Pokémon Winds" and "Pokémon Waves" is welcome news, Jefferies analyst Atul Goyal says in a note. The announcement shows the Japanese videogame maker strengthening its position by pushing deeper into the Switch 2 era to sustain platform momentum, he writes. The flagship title release next year also supports executives' view that the second and third years of a product cycle are the most crucial from a content pipeline perspective, Goyal notes. "By pacing out heavy hitters, Nintendo avoids software droughts and ensures a steady tail of high-margin adoption." What the company needs now, he says, is a tent-pole game for the 2026 holiday season, with an announcement coinciding with a movie launch or during a Nintendo Direct showcase.
