Monte Dei Paschi's Plan Confirms Attractive Shareholder Returns -- Market Talk

0958 GMT - The midterm plan recently set out by Monte dei Paschi confirms the Italian bank's attractive distribution story though the execution of its integration with Mediobanca remains the main element to monitor, Equita says. Analyst Andrea Lisi liked the strategy's reasonable macroeconomic assumptions, the conservative approach to international development and the fact that there is room to further strengthen its capital position through significant risk transfers, he writes. He also points to upside from the expiry of the group's bancassurance deal with AXA in 2027. The analyst adds that visibility into the Mediobanca deal synergies and the effectiveness of retention measures will be key during this transition year, for which the bank didn't issue guidance.
