　　当地时间3月2日，美国总统特朗普表示，英国首相斯塔默曾阻止美方使用查戈斯群岛上的军事基地用于打击伊朗，自己对此感到“非常失望”。

　　据悉，英国此前曾以国际法为由，拒绝美国使用该基地打击伊朗。斯塔默3月1日晚发表声明称，已同意美国使用该军事基地用于“特定且有限”的防御目的。

　　特朗普在接受媒体采访时说，斯塔默的态度转变“花了太长时间”，这在两国间“从未发生过”，斯塔默一开始就应该允许美国使用该基地。

　　查戈斯群岛位于毛里求斯东北方向约750公里的印度洋西南海域，1965年被割让给英国殖民当局。英国次年把该群岛主岛迪戈加西亚岛租给美国建空军基地。

　　2025年5月22日，英国与毛里求斯签署协议，查戈斯群岛主权被正式移交给毛里求斯。根据协议，迪戈加西亚军事基地将由毛里求斯租借给英国和美国。特朗普曾多次反对英国移交该群岛主权。
