Island Pharmaceuticals Enters Agreement to Advance Galidesivir Approval, Shares Up 19%

Island Pharmaceuticals (ASX:ILA) said it has entered into a cooperative research and development agreement with the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases and The Geneva Foundation to accelerate Animal Rule approval for Galidesivir, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

The company said the agreement is aimed at advancing Galidesivir under the US Food and Drug Administration's Animal Rule development pathway for the treatment of Marburg Virus Disease.

Galidesivir is a clinical-stage antiviral molecule with broad-spectrum activity against over 20 RNA viruses, including Ebola, Marburg, MERS, Zika, and Yellow fever, the filing added.

The company's shares were up 19% in recent Wednesday trade.
