SkyCity Faces Legal Proceedings Over Legality of SkyCity Online Gaming Operations

SkyCity Entertainment Group (NZE:SKC, ASX:SKC) said legal proceedings have been filed against the company, SkyCity Auckland Holdings, and Malta-based Silvereye Entertainment over the legality of online gaming operations run by Silvereye for the SkyCity Online platform, according to a Friday filing with the New Zealand and Australian bourses.

The proceedings seek court approval to proceed as a funded class action representing individuals who lost money gambling on SkyCity Online between February 2020 and February this year, the filing said.

The company denies any liability and says it will actively defend the claims, the filing added.

The company's Kiwi shares rose around 1% in recent Friday trade.
