CSL Seqirus was granted a contract to support flu pandemic preparedness plans for Canada's government.

The flu vaccine manufacturer said Friday it would make and deliver millions of doses of cell-based adjuvanted influenza vaccines to protect Canadians if another flu pandemic is declared.

Under a previous agreement with the Public Health Agency of Canada, CSL Seqirus was contracted to provide an egg-based flu vaccine in the event of a pandemic.

The shift to cell-based vaccines builds on the successful introduction of cell-based Flucelvax into Canada's seasonal flu program over the past six years, CSL Seqirus said.
