3月6日，据《华尔街日报》报道，知情人士透露，阿联酋正考虑冻结伊朗在该国持有的数以十亿美元计资产。此举旨在惩罚德黑兰近期发动的军事袭击，一旦实施，将严重限制伊朗获取外汇及利用全球贸易网络的能力。
阿联酋官员已私下就潜在行动向伊朗发出警告。此前，伊朗向阿联酋境内目标发射了1000多架无人机和导弹，导致包括迪拜机场、朱美拉棕榈岛住宅区及旅游区受损，杰贝阿里港也因拦截导弹碎片的击中而出现火情。
长期以来，阿联酋一直是伊朗企业和个人规避西方制裁、进行石油销售及资金周转的重要金融中心。智库Bourse & Bazaar首席执行官Esfandyar Batmanghelidj表示：“阿联酋是伊朗参与全球经济最重要的渠道，任何限制行动都将产生重大影响。”
