A second Iranian ship is in Sri Lanka's territorial waters, Sri Lanka cabinet spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said, a day after the U.S. torpedoed an Iranian naval ship in international waters near the island nation.

Sri Lanka isn't allowing the ship to dock, but is providing some humanitarian assistance, Jayatissa said, without specifying if the ship is a naval or commercial vessel. Two other Sri Lankan officials said the ship is about 20 miles south of capital Colombo, and had requested to dock on Wednesday, but approval wasn't granted.
