消息面上，受霍尔木兹海峡航运受阻与中东主要产油国减产影响，3月9日开盘，WTI原油和布伦特原油双双飙升，均一度突破110美元。此外，美国天然气期货价格亦创下一个月新高。此前，阿布扎比国家石油公司与科威特石油公司相继宣布削减产量。另据央视新闻，当地时间9日，哈梅内伊次子穆杰塔巴·哈梅内伊当选伊朗新任最高领袖。美国总统特朗普此前发出严厉威胁，声称未经其认可的伊朗新领导人“不会维持太久”。

另有报道称，数据显示，霍尔木兹海峡已连续第七天陷入"近乎停滞"状态，过去24小时内仅有一艘与伊朗相关的散货船驶出波斯湾。摩根大通表示，中东产油国“停产潮”正迅速蔓延，停产规模最高或逼近600万桶/日。一旦全面停产，油价或暴涨30美元/桶。高盛警告称，霍尔木兹海峡石油流量已暴跌90%，若危机持续，油价甚至超越2008年历史峰值。
