Stocks were dropping early Thursday as Iran ramped up attacks against shipping in the Middle East and traders digested a consumer price index roughly in line with estimates with prices rising 2.4% price in February.

Mosaic Co. was up 4.6% in the premarket and CF Industries Holdings was rising 3% as fertilizer companies continued to gain from the prospect of rising prices due to shipping disruption.

UiPath was down 4.9% in premarket trading after the automation-software company reported top- and bottom-line gains for the fiscal fourth quarter but guided for a slowdown in full-year revenue growth.

Nvidia was falling 0.6% in the premarket. One of the chip maker's major customers, social-media company Meta Platforms, on Wednesday announced four new generations of its custom artificial-intelligence chips.

Atlassian was rising 2.4% in the premarket. The software company said late Wednesday that it plans to cut about 10% of its workforce as it adapts to the growth of AI, with the layoffs amounting to about 1,600 people.
