Kohl's Sales Are Slowing -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Mar 10

1305 ET - UBS expects Kohl's to report 4Q earnings below Wall Street forecasts, citing channel checks that suggest sales trends deteriorated during the recent quater. "Importantly, industry data indicate sales trends have continued to decelerate" so far in the current quarter, analysts say in a research note. Recent data and conversations with investors suggests that sentiment around the stock remains bearish but has gotten less bad. "We think a weak 4Q print will cause a reversal," the analysts add. They expect Kohl's to issue a lower-than-expected outlook for the year, causing market sentiment to deteriorate. Shares are trading 6.3% lower. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
