CAE appointed company veteran Pascal Grenier to oversee its defense portfolio as the training and flight-simulation company seeks to grow its defense-and-security business.

Grenier, who has been with the company for more than 25 years, has been appointed president of CAE's defense-and-security division, the company said Monday.

He has a mandate that includes strengthening the business and reaffirming CAE as a trusted defense partner for faster, scalable mission readiness, CAE said. The Canadian company said Grenier will also provide strategic oversight for CAE's U.S. defense-and-security segment.

The drive to beef up CAE's defense operations comes as North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries are increasing military and security spending. Canada's government has pledged to boost investment to catch up to its NATO commitments, including spending money on military vehicles, drones, ammunition and sensors to monitor the Arctic.

CAE's defense-and-security segment is a key part of the company's global operations, generating roughly 2 billion Canadian dollars (US$1.47 billion) in annual revenue, about 42% of CAE's total fiscal 2025 revenue. The business has about 6,000 employees in 18 countries, CAE said.

Last week, CAE said it was teaming with Thyssenkrupp's TKMS marine-systems arm to support the German company's bid to land a multibillion-dollar Canadian government order for naval submarines able to patrol the arctic. CAE would deliver long-term training solutions that would closely replicate real-world submarine operations to prepare Royal Canadian Navy crews.

The company on Monday said Srini Dixit, who is currently serving as chief financial officer of the defense-and-security segment, will take on the additional role of interim vice president and general manager for CAE Defense and Security USA until a permanent leader is confirmed. The company said its defense-and-security president, Merrill Stoddard, is leaving to pursue other opportunities.

The U.S. business operates under a special security agreement, meaning Dixit will report directly to CAE's U.S. board of directors and have an indirect reporting line to Grenier.
