Suntec REIT Manager Deal Could Enhance Value for Unitholders -- Market Talk

0113 GMT - The sale of Suntec REIT's manager to a major unitholder of the real-estate investment trust is likely to enhance the value of the trust, say DBS Group Research analysts in commentary. The REIT manager is being sold to Acrophyte Asset Management, controlled by property businessman Gordon Tang, who already owns a significant Suntec REIT stake with affiliates. The sale likely paves the way for Suntec REIT to unlock value through assets divestments, the DBS analysts say. They anticipate potential deals involving certain Australian or Singapore properties. Gains from these possible sales could be distributed to unitholders, which the market has likely not priced in, the analysts add. The bank retains its buy rating and S$1.60 target price on Suntec REIT, which rises 2.3% to S$1.36. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
