韩国产业部长安德根表示，首尔方面正就投资美国的一个核电项目进行“谈判”。这是首尔承诺向美国项目投资3500亿美元的一部分。
在美国总统特朗普威胁要对韩国进口商品额外征收25%的关税后，首尔方面正加紧审查与华盛顿方面达成的协议。特朗普指责这个亚洲盟友在执行去年达成的贸易协定方面存在延迟。
安德根在回应国会委员会一位议员关于韩国可能投资美国核电站的提问时表示：“我们正就核电事宜进行认真讨论。”这位部长没有进一步阐述讨论的细节。
美国政府去年与西屋电气公司签署了一项合作伙伴关系，旨在建造价值至少800亿美元的核反应堆，这是近年来最雄心勃勃的原子能发展计划之一。
消息人士上周告诉媒体，日本和美国也在合作，拟将一个核电项目纳入日本5500亿美元投资计划下的第二轮协议中。
