1433 ET - FedEx and UPS have so far managed to avoid losing customers to competitors even as they raise rates and surcharges, JPMorgan analysts write in a note, citing conversations with consultants in the parcel industry. The analysts note frustration among customers with higher prices and deteriorating customer service, adding that it seems Amazon Shipping is increasing its outreach to third-party shippers. "Parcel consultants are fielding an increasing number of requests to find alternative options with regional carriers, Amazon or the USPS which is a trend worth monitoring," the analysts write. "However, the number of large shippers leaving the big two entirely is practically zero based on our conversations, given the alternatives often cannot meet the service and coverage requirements at a large enough scale to make the switch worthwhile."
