Live Nation Seen Holing Up After DOJ Settlement -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Mar 10

1412 ET - The terms of Live Nation Entertainment's anti-trust settlement with the Department of Justice bode well for the Ticketmaster operator, Benchmark analyst Matthew Harrigan says in a research note. Live Nation can handle the settlement conditions, the analyst says, including$200 million in damages to participating states. Despite requirements that Ticketmaster reduce the terms of its exclusivity contracts and open up parts of its platform to competition, the analyst does not expect competitors like Seat Geek and Vivid Seats to gain meaningful immediate traction. Benchmark expects venues to continue favoring Ticketmaster for its efficiency and scale. Live Nation shares rise 4.9% to $163.77. (amira.mckee@wsj.com)
