BUZZ-Shares of Australian airlines down as oil prices stoke fears of high fuel cost

** Shares of Australia's flag carrier Qantas QAN.AX fall as much as 9.1% to A$8.11, their lowest point since April 11, 2025

** Shares of the country's No. 2 airline Virgin Australia VGN.AX fall as much as 7.6% to a record low of A$2.68

** Airline stocks globally hammered since initial strikes in early March, with investors worried route closures could be prolonged and fuel costs could stay high

** Both Qantas and Virgin Australia set to lose ~15% in the month so far, if day's losses hold

** YTD, Virgin Australia down 23.4%, Qantas down 18.5%
