The savings were separate from his income.\n“There’s no reason that you’re at your mother’s if you didn’t lose your job,” Ramsey said. “You just lost your savings.”\nThe couple’s financial habits were the real reason they ended up in their current situation, he said. \n“We don’t blame this on the penny stock,” Ramsey said. “We blame this on the fact you bought a bunch of crap like cars that you can’t afford to pay on an In-N-Out manager salary.”\nRamsey urged Kevin to immediately sell both vehicles and replace them with cheaper ones.\n“Sell the cars,” Ramsey said. “You should have [done this] before you moved in with your mother.”\nHis suggestion was straightforward: sell the current vehicles, buy two used cars worth around $5,000 each and drastically reduce their debt.\n“Get you two $5,000 cars and then you’ll have $10,000 in car debt instead of $50,000,” Ramsey said.\nRamsey also pushed Kevin on another financial decision.
