周四，日元兑美元汇率跌破159，接近曾在1月引发美联储进行所谓汇率检查的159.45水平。然而，当前形势已发生变化。伊朗冲突推动的油价上涨以及美国经济数据的强劲表现，从根本上推高了美元汇率，这可能使日本当局更难找到理由出手干预。
“现在干预的门槛更高了，”澳大利亚国民银行的货币策略师Rodrigo Catril表示。“我们认为，除非美元兑日元出现无序上涨，否则不太可能进行干预。158/159区域是之前的分水岭，我们认为新的分水岭可能在162附近。”
日本严重依赖中东能源进口，这意味着原油价格上涨会导致贸易平衡恶化并加剧通胀，自然会对日元构成压力。与此同时，美元受益于避险资金流入，进一步强化了日元的走势。
这与1月的情况形成鲜明对比，当时日元的下跌似乎更多是受仓位波动和投机情绪驱动。日本官员一再强调，他们关注的是过度波动，而不是捍卫特定价位。
“与1月相比，美国当局进行汇率检查的动力可能有所降低，”摩根大通策略师Junya Tanase等人在周三的一份报告中写道。“鉴于美元/日元最近的上涨是由美元整体走强推动，即使该货币对交易至160一线，也可能难以证明干预的合理性。”他们维持了对美元/日元中长期将在164的预测。
