美国管理和预算办公室(OMB)网站周五更新显示，该规则的跨部门审查程序已经结束，该措施已被撤回，但未提供其他细节。
特朗普政府的一位官员周五晚些时候表示，这项现已撤回的规则仅为草案，有关该提案的任何讨论都是初步的。
媒体此前曾对该规则草案进行过报道，并提醒称其内容可能会发生重大变化或被完全搁置。在去年废除从拜登政府继承的监管方法后，该草案曾标志着特朗普政府在制定全球芯片出口战略方面迈出的最具实质性的一步。
美国商务部上周表示，“我们不会”回归上届政府的AI扩散框架，并称该框架“繁琐、手伸得太长且极具灾难性”。
这项现已作废的特朗普政府提案，原本将为美国商务部许可办公室设定重要角色，使其能够对英伟达和AMD的人工智能芯片出口进行逐案审查。
获得批准的前提将取决于一系列因素，包括政府间的协议，以及每个最终用户所寻求的计算能力大小。
