消息面上，伊朗新任最高领袖穆杰塔巴·哈梅内伊通过国家电视台发表首次声明时说，伊朗将继续采取包括封锁霍尔木兹海峡在内的战略手段，并在必要时开辟新的战线。此外，国际能源署史无前例的联合释储行动未能如预期安抚市场，反而加剧了恐慌情绪，市场担心原油供应中断风险将持续扩大。
瑞银以油价介乎每桶50至120美元的情境进行分析，发展中海油对油价的敏感度高，中石油在油价上升情况下，盈利亦会随之上扬。值得注意的是，该行基本情境假设今年布兰特期油为72美元，若油价上升至80美元、90美元及100美元，中石化盈利亦会升8%、14%及13%。不过，若油价高于100美元，中石化盈利则会向下。
