MDA Space Shares Lose Steam After Climbing on New York Debut

Canadian satellites and space-exploration technology company MDA Space's shares opened with a gain on their first day of trading in New York but saw the advance fizzle.

The stock rose as high as $32.26 on the New York Stock Exchange, a 5.8% premium to the offering price of $30.50, but cooled in afternoon trade to $31.61. In Toronto, the shares were down 5.6% at C$42.91, narrowing the jump over the last year to about 54%.

Late Tuesday, MDA launched a $300 million initial public offering in the U.S., seeking access to a deeper pool of American institutional capital.
