PowerX (TYO:485A) said it will launch a nationwide power operation service for solar power plants with co-located battery storage and add support for frequency containment reserve in the balancing market, according to a Friday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The service expands the company's electricity aggregation operations from Kyushu to all nine power grid areas in Japan, excluding Okinawa, targeting solar plants with an output of 1.5 megawatts or more.
PowerX said the service will install its battery storage systems at solar power plants and provide integrated aggregation and maintenance management, allowing operators to generate revenue from electricity trading as well as balancing market services.
The company said development costs for metering equipment for the service are expected to be about 50 million yen.
