Shopify Still Bullish on Agentic Commerce After OpenAI Steps Back -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Mar 19

1445 ET - Shopify shouldn't feel any financial hiccups from OpenAI's stepback from commerce, says Oppenheimer's Ken Wong. In a report, the analyst says even after OpenAI backed away from enabling native, in-app checkout inside ChatGPT, investors shouldn't expect "any financial headwinds." He says that management remains committed to supporting multiple artificial intelligence partners and continues to view agentic commerce as a long-term opportunity. While it does highlight the difficulties of AI checkout as it currently is, Wong says that the move doesn't "diminish significance of agentic commerce." (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
