Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) said it would provide emergency assistance to customers and businesses in areas impacted by Tropical Cyclone Narelle, according to a Friday statement.

The storm made landfall in Queensland on Friday morning.

Under the emergency assistance, customers will be eligible for customized payment arrangements for home loans, business loans, personal loans, and credit cards, as well as temporary overdrafts, additional loans , or emergency credit limit increases, subject to credit approval.

The bank will also waive fees and charges, including for temporary and damaged merchant EFTPOS terminals, subject to credit approval, and provide support with merchant terminal rental fees. It will also waive fees and notice periods for early access to term deposits.

It also said temporary accommodation may be available for customers who have taken out home insurance provided by Hollard, distributed by the lender.
