DTE Energy enters into supply deal with Alphabet's Google

March 17 (Reuters) - DTE Energy DTE.N said on Tuesday its subsidary DTE Electric signed a primary supply agreement and a clean capacity accelerator agreement (CCAA) to provide electric services and energy storage capacities to Alphabet's GOOGL.O Google.

U.S. power demand reached record highs in 2025 and is projected to hit fresh highs as major tech companies boost consumption at their rapidly expanding data centers.

  • Under the deal, which will run through 2047, DTE Electric will provide electric services to Google's 1 gigawatt data center which is to be built in Michigan.

  • Monthly minimum charges would be applied if the deal ends early.

  • Under the CCAA, DTE Electric will provide up to 480 megawatts of energy storage capacity and 1,600 megawatts of renewable generation to support its electric service to Google's upcoming data center.

  • DTE Electric will operate the renewables and storage resources over the course of 20 years.

  • Google said in a release it will fully cover the electricity costs and infrastructure needs
