通用汽车与LG Energy Solution合资成立的电池企业将于下月在美国田纳西州工厂开始生产用于固定式能源储存的电池。Ultium Cells营运副总裁Tom Gallagher表示，公司将重新聘用约700名今年1月暂时裁员的员工，在田纳西州Spring Hill工厂生产磷酸铁锂电池，并供应予LG转售予电网及数据中心客户。他透露，将工厂改装为生产LFP电池的成本为数千万美元。该工厂于2024年投产，过去主要生产用于Cadillac Lyriq、Cadillac Vistiq及Acura ZDX的镍基电池，原计划最多聘用约1350名员工，后因通用汽车电动汽车业务缩减而暂停生产。
