Cattle Inch Up on Stronger Boxed Beef Prices -- Market Talk
Dow Jones
Mar 17
0944 ET - Live cattle futures on the CME are up 0.4% to nearly $2.34 a pound. Helping move the contract is a jump in boxed beef prices, says AgResource in a note. Choice cutout rises $4.74 per hundredweight to $402.66 per cwt, while select gains $2.97 to $394.51 per cwt. AgResource adds that it expects to see "a broad range" in trading for cattle as spring approaches and the strike at the JBS plant in Greeley, Colorado plays out. Lean hogs are up 0.3%.
