Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI is preparing to combine its ChatGPT interface, Codex program, and its web browser into a singular desktop platform to streamline organizational resources, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing a company spokeswoman and an internal note.
Applications head Fidji Simo will direct the product revamp alongside President Greg Brockman to work on "agentic" artificial intelligence systems that operate autonomously, the news outlet reported.
The company anticipates introducing these capabilities to the programming system over the upcoming months before integrating the remaining platforms to resolve fragmentation, the WSJ reported.
OpenAI plans to simplify its efforts and get rid of the fragmentation that is lowering quality, the media outlet quoted Simo as saying.
OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
