Chinese Shares Close Lower, Tracking Regional Losses -- Market Talk

0718 GMT - Chinese shares closed lower amid wider regional losses on continued worries over the Middle East conflict. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 3.6% to 3813.28, the Shenzhen Composite Index ended 4.2% lower and the ChiNext Price Index dropped 3.5%. Investors worry that the Iran war will lead to a prolonged disruption to energy supplies. Gold miner and property stocks led losses. Shanjin International Gold lost 9.8% and Zhongjin Gold shed 8.3%. China Vanke fell 7.4%. Among gainers, BYD rose 4.5% and CGN Power ended 2.2% higher. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
